Why We Built a PDF Search Tool

It started with a simple client request: "Can you add a way for people to search our documents?" The client had hundreds of PDFs — policy documents, forms, handbooks — buried in a disorganized folder structure. Every week, staff spent time hunting for files, and clients called to ask where things were.

The Market Had Nothing That Fit

We looked at every plugin and SaaS tool we could find. The options were either too expensive for small organizations, required a technical setup most clients couldn't maintain, or were tied to specific CMS platforms. Nothing just worked.

So We Built It

Sparks Simple is a searchable PDF widget that embeds on any website with a single line of code. Upload your PDFs, get an embed snippet, drop it on any page. No CMS dependency, no server-side infrastructure, no monthly per-seat pricing.

The first version was built for one client. The second version was built for three more who had the exact same problem. By version three, we had something worth releasing as a standalone product.

What It Does

You get a search box that instantly filters across all your uploaded PDFs. Matching documents surface with highlighted previews. Visitors can open or download files directly. The whole thing runs client-side — there's nothing to maintain on the server.

It's free to start. You can try it at sparkssimple.com.
